- Every school bus should be painted in yellow colour
- “School Bus” should be written on the front and back of the bus. And if it’s a hired one, “On School Duty” should be displayed on the school bus
- A school bus should have a first aid box and a fire extinguisher for handling emergency situations
- School bus windows should have horizontal grills
- There should be a speed governor in every school bus
- The name and telephone number of the school should be shown on the school bus
- A school bus door should have a reliable lock attached to it
- Sufficient space should be provided for students to keep their belongings
- A qualified attendant should be appointed in every school bus
- Any parent, guardian or a teacher should accompany school bus children for ensuring better safety
- A school bus driver should have at least 5 years of driving experience and
- No driver who is punished for offences such as over speeding, drunken driving, etc. should be employed
