Rally for Safety: Over 500 Students Promote Road safety Awareness
Navi Mumbai: To raise awareness about road safety, over 500 students at Rajiv Gandhi College of Arts, Science and Commerce in Vashi organised a colourful 'Umbrella Rally'.
Each umbrella had written message about road safety. The youngsters walked from Shivaji Chowk to Centre One in Vashi.
“Since it is currently monsoon season, we decided to do something more useful and painted our umbrellas with vibrant colours and messages like `Don't drink and drive', 'Speed thrills but kills' among others,'' said a participant at the rally.
The initiative was appreciated by the local traffic cops. Students managed to conduct the rally taking time off their busy academic schedule. It was creative as well as needed rally for the awareness of people. The city recently witnessed many fatal accidents.
Two teenaged girl students aged 16 and 19 years lost their lives on the Vashi Bridge during the past 15 days. Two-wheeler accidents are not rare.
