GPS-Enabled Garbage Collection Coming soon
Lucknow will become one of the first cities to have GPS enabled garbage collection. This proposal to install GPS device in collection vehicles was made by the agency 'Ecogreen' for effective implementation of trash collection.
The location of vehicles like e-rickshaws, mini trucks, trolleys etc. will be tracked by just a click. Also, the authorities can monitor the activities of sanitary workers.
Using the device, a detailed route map of by-lanes and roads in congested areas can be obtained, which indeed helps to ease garbage collection task. Ecogreen have already submitted the proposal to implement GPS in trash collection vehicles to the Lucknow Municipal Corporation.
In certain metropolitan cities, this is done by using RFID technique that uses electromagnetic fields to find and track objects. Rakesh Agarwal, MD of Ecogreen, said that the system will help to overcome all flaws in the trash collection task. And the authorities will be able to know whether garbage have been lifted from a particular location or not. Also, he said that they are eagerly waiting for the proposal's approval.
