Education officer, Subhash Chougule, confessed that they are unaware about meetings and is doubtful whether it is conducted regularly or not. He added that it is necessary to form committees and all Zilla parishad-run schools have already formed it. Also, he assumes that private schools must have formed transport committees and might be conducting meetings.

Chougule said that within a few days, the department inspects the status of school transport committees in private schools.

There was a deadline in July 31, 2014 for the school transport committees to be formed in all the schools. But this year, even after the start of academic year, RTOs are unaware about the status of school transport committees in different schools.

The aforesaid committee includes representatives from parents, school authorities, transport and police departments. Rajendra Varma, deputy RTO of Kolhapur, insisted that there should be proper interaction between departments and RTO to guarantee proper functioning of committees.
