Banning Books: Canadian School District is Finally Taking Action Against Books

An eight year old was prevented from reading books inside the school bus. The initiative is a step for better safety. All thanks to Canadian school district, reading books are banned inside the school buses.

Though some parents of book lovers regard the issue as a stupid decision, the authority implemented it without a second thought as safety is of greater importance than anything else.

The issue is not about books but about the safety of the children travelling in the bus.  “I don’t think it has much to do with reading on the bus,” Marchand said. ”I think it has to do with keeping things in the bag and the bag under the seat.” says Raynald Marchand, general manager of programs for the Ottawa-based Canada Safety Council.

Though some parents are not convinced with the decision, the initiative is a step towards improving of the school bus safety. The rule also specifies that personal belongings of students must remain in their school bags and bags under the seat. Objects must never lie scattered as it can gain the attention of other children reducing the attention of children inside the school bus.

The initiative aims only at retaining the attention of school children. Having a presence of mind can reduce any possibilities of danger. Less they are distracted more is the safety.
