Amazing! Use RailYatri.in to Get Exact Train Location on Google Maps
The new start up technology, RailYatri.in concentrated on train travellers, launched GPS train tracking platform ‘RailRadar GPS’. It helps to track the real-time movement of trains across the nation on a Google map.
“With this release, the award-winning train travel app has taken the 1st concrete step towards the longstanding train tracking challenge using smart location technology implementation like never before,” according to a release.
It is possible to track the running trains along with the on-time/delay status on a Google map.
The company claims that this is the first deployment of a true crowd-sourced location tracking ever. Due to high costs, the earlier government initiative to enable GPS on trains as part of the SIMRAN project failed. Despite spending crores on pilot project it was scrapped after the launch on about 40 premium trains.
Compared to GPS hardware costs, the RailRadar GPS which uses location generated by the passenger’s smartphone requires zero capital expenditure. Just like Google maps which determine traffic on road, while using any road transport, RailRadar GPS determines the train location. RailRadar GPS analyses the pattern of locations transmitted by the smartphone used by the travellers sitting on the train.
RailRadar GPS is designed to track every train in the country 24×7. More than 100 trains are published with pilot phase.
“Train location is one of the most sought after information by train travellers and the smartphone technology now allows us to answer that with accuracy and cost not possible a few years back. The crowd sourced model uses mathematical modelling to confirm the train and its location. The technology reduces human errors, while available 24×7 under all weather conditions, irrespective of fog or visibility issues. All it requires is 1 smartphone RailYatri traveler on each train,” said Manish Rathi, CEO and co-founder, RailYatri.in.
