School Bus Driver Charged With Assaulting Children on Bus

North Carolina: A School bus driver at North Carolina resigned after she was arrested for allegedly assaulting two children on her bus. The incident raises questions on school bus safety.

The school bus driver Jacqueline Harris Dennis, 50, Fuquay-Varina, is charged for punching a 7-year-old boy in the stomach and pushing him off her bus. She is also accused of shoving an 8-year-old boy into the metal frame of the school bus window.

According to the arrest warrant, both the incidences took place on the same day, May 12 at suspect’s Wake County school bus. Jacqueline was already charged for two counts of assault on a child under 12.  She resigned shortly after the school had put her on non-driving duty. She was jailed under a $15,000 secured bond. Jacqueline was hired as a school bus driver in 2012 by the school management.
